NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY

Please be mindful of your speed in the neighborhood. The current maximum speed limit in Hidden
Springs is 25 mph. The Hidden Spring HOA is currently working with VDOT and PWC DOT to have
the speed limit lowered to 15 mph. Many residents ride their bikes, walk the neighborhood with their
children and/or dogs and we do not have the benefit of sidewalks. Help keep everyone safe by driving
safely.

NEIGHBORHOOD PARKING

In the near future there will be changes to parking at the entrance to Hidden Spring. No Parking signs
may be placed on the left and right side of the roadway near the entrance. These changes are being
implemented for safety reasons and/or to be in compliance with state and county laws and HOA policy.
No Parking near Stop signs, intersections, fire hydrants and mailboxes are not new, however, these laws
will be enforced.

Parking is not permitted as follows:
Within 30 feet of a Stop sign,
Within 20 feet of an intersection starting from where curb starts to curve into intersection,
Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant
No Parking in front of the footpath entrance to the Community Use area (playground).
Additionally, parking is not permitted within 30 ft on either side of mailboxes. Per USPS guidelines,
the mail carrier must have clear approach to and exit from all mailboxes.

COMMUNITY LANDSCAPE

Have you seen this bush in your yard or around the community?
Nandina domestica commonly known as Nandina, heavenly
bamboo or sacred bamboo is actually not bamboo but an evergreen shrub and highly invasive.
Nandina is a popular ornamental shrub, however the berries are toxic to birds and mammals.
All parts of the plant are poisonous and contain compounds that decompose to produce hydrogen
cyanide.
Hidden Spring has a large number of these shrubs in the entrance flower beds. These shrubs will be
removed and replaced with safe, non-invasive plants.

PET WASTE STATION

Help keep Our community grounds safe and clean!! Within the next week, a pet waste station will be
placed at the front of the development (grassy area to the left of the Hidden Spring sign.) Please
dispose of pet waste properly using the bags provided.
Dog waste left on the ground can be harmful to the environment. Let's not forget, it's gross and no one
wants to step in dog poo!!

Did you know……
● Pet waste doesn't just decompose. It adds harmful bacteria and
nutrients to local waters, when not disposed of properly. Animal waste
is one of the many small sources of pollution that can add up to big
problems for water quality, and even human health.
● Dog waste contains nitrogen and phosphorus, which can deplete oxygen that fish and
other water-based life need to survive, it also encourages the growth of harmful algae.
● Pet waste can carry harmful bacteria (E. Coli/Salmonella), parasites
(roundworm/tapeworm), and viruses that can make people, wildlife and dogs very sick.
Rodents are very attracted to pet waste too!
